Centretown is a leafy residential district with a busy commercial core of clothes stores, brunch spots and lively Irish pubs on Elgin and Bank streets. The Rideau Canal is popular for its waterside trail and becomes an ice-skating rink in winter, while Dundonald and Jack Purcell parks are dotted with monuments and public artwork. The Canadian Museum of Nature has exhibits on Arctic fossils and polar bears.
